New Caledonian club AS Tiga Sport is approaching the OFC Men’s Champions League filled with confidence, bolstered by the recent achievements of their national team. Five players from Tiga Sport participated in the New Caledonia squad that faced New Zealand in the FIFA World Cup 26™ Oceania Qualifiers final earlier this week.
Head coach Leo Lopez views this experience as a significant advantage for his team. “We are proud of our national team, and we are fortunate to have five players from that squad. They will bring valuable experience, and we hope it helps us compete at our best in this tournament,” he stated.
Tiga Sport will commence their campaign against Rewa FC, who are also entering the tournament with motivation after featuring six of their players in Fiji’s Oceania Qualifiers semi-final against New Zealand. Rewa’s head coach, Rodeck Singh, is focused on optimizing player fitness and is carefully assessing the condition of those returning to the squad.
Lopez and Singh both emphasize the value of experience, as both teams bring national pride and a determination to succeed at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara, Solomon Islands, where the match will take place this Sunday.
With exciting matchups on the horizon, both teams have the chance to make a strong statement in the competition, showcasing talent and teamwork that resonates with their dedicated fan bases. The upcoming tournament promises to be a thrilling showcase of football in the Oceania region, highlighting the potential for growth and excellence in regional sports.
