Fijian captain Roy Krishna made a significant impact as Odisha FC secured a 2-1 victory over East Bengal FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar last night, marking their second win of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season.
Krishna and Mourtada Fall each scored to help Odisha FC overcome a penalty goal from East Bengal’s Dimitrios Diamantakos, who found the net during added time in the first half.
This defeat marked East Bengal FC’s sixth consecutive loss this season and their second in a row under new head coach Oscar Bruzon.
Krishna opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, marking his fourth goal against East Bengal in the league. A clever through ball from young player Isak Vanlalruatfela set Krishna up on the left flank, where he expertly maneuvered past the East Bengal defense. He confidently approached the goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Singh Gill and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.
Odisha FC’s next match is scheduled against Mumbai City FC on October 27, while East Bengal FC will face Mohammedan SC in the Kolkata Derby on November 9.
