Odisha FC Triumphs as East Bengal Struggles with Sixth Straight Loss

Fijian Captain Roy Krishna contributed to Odisha FC’s success as they defeated East Bengal FC 2-1 at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar last night, marking their second victory of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season.

Krishna and Mourtada Fall each scored for Odisha, overcoming a penalty goal from East Bengal FC’s Dimitrios Diamantakos, which was scored during injury time at the end of the first half.

This defeat adds to East Bengal’s struggles, marking their sixth consecutive loss in the current ISL season and their second under new head coach Oscar Bruzon.

Krishna opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, netting his fourth goal against East Bengal FC in this competition. Youngster Isak Vanlalruatfela set up the goal with a well-placed through ball from the left flank. Krishna seized the opportunity, skillfully maneuvering past East Bengal goalkeeper Prabhsukhan Singh Gill to find the bottom right corner of the net.

Odisha FC is set to face Mumbai City FC on October 27, while East Bengal FC will compete in the Kolkata Derby against Mohammedan SC on November 9.
