Odisha FC Falls Short Despite Late Heroics from Roy Krishna

Fijian captain Roy Krishna’s late goal was insufficient for Odisha FC as they suffered a defeat in their opening match of the 2024-25 Indian Super League against Chennaiyin FC at Kalinga Stadium yesterday.

Odisha FC initially took the lead with Diego Mauricio converting a penalty. However, in the second half, Chennaiyin equalized before quickly taking a 2-1 lead, with Farukh Choudhary netting two goals in just two minutes.

Debutant Daniel Chima Chukwu then added to Chennaiyin’s tally. Although Krishna scored late in the match to narrow the deficit, it was too little, too late for Odisha FC.

Odisha FC is set to face Punjab FC in their next match.
