One person was killed and at least 14 more were injured following a drone attack by Russian forces on the Ukrainian city of Odesa, which took place overnight. This significant strike damaged multiple high-rise buildings and railway infrastructure according to local officials. Odesa, being Ukraine’s largest Black Sea port, is crucial for both imports and exports, and has faced relentless missile and drone strikes since the onset of the conflict.
Local authorities reported that despite the active engagement of air defense forces, civilian infrastructure suffered severe damage. Odesa’s governor, Oleh Kiper, noted the destruction of residential buildings, a higher education institution, and other critical infrastructures like a gas pipeline.
