Oceans of Peace: Rabuka’s Vision for the Pacific Unfolds

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to advocate for the Pacific to be recognized as an ocean of peace during the forthcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Tonga, which begins tomorrow. He shared this intention during a gathering with the Fijian community in Tonga last night.

Rabuka acknowledged that these meetings are often closely examined, with few noting the achievements made. He emphasized that the impact of discussions and decisions may not be immediately evident.

“The outcomes of our meetings with various leaders take time to come to fruition,” he stated. “Every gathering is significant as they have implications for the nations and peoples of the region.”

Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka engaged in a talanoa session with the diaspora and is expected to address the challenges faced by the community at the Pacific Islands Forum Summit.

This year’s meeting, themed “Transformative Resilient Pasifiki: Build Better Now,” will take place from Monday to Friday.
