Samoa and Tonga will proudly represent Oceania in the 2025 World Sevens Challenger Series, after competing in the Oceania Sevens Rugby finals held in Honiara on Sunday.
Both the men’s and women’s teams from Samoa successfully qualified for the series. The Manu Samoa Sevens delivered an impressive performance by defeating the Fiji Development team with a score of 17-12, securing their position at the top of the men’s competition.
In the women’s category, the Manusina Sevens faced off against Fijiana in the finals but unfortunately ended the match with a 14-5 loss. However, there’s a silver lining—since Fiji is already established as a core team in the HSBC SVNS Series, Manusina’s commendable effort still leads to their qualification.
Tonga will also be joining Samoa in the men’s competition, as they overcame Tuvalu with a score of 24-19 in the third place playoff.
This achievement highlights the growing strength of rugby in Oceania and the potential for these teams to shine on the world stage. Fans can look forward to supporting Samoa and Tonga in the upcoming series, as they represent their nations with pride and determination.
Summary: Samoa and Tonga have qualified for the 2025 World Sevens Challenger Series after competing in the Oceania Sevens Rugby finals, with both Samoa’s men’s and women’s teams making notable strides in the competition.
