The Guam National Olympic Committee (GNOC) is gearing up to host the annual general assembly of the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) on May 17. This esteemed event will bring together delegates and stakeholders from across the region to discuss pivotal developments in the Olympic movement.

As part of the assembly’s agenda, the GNOC will conduct a series of events and workshops designed to engage participants in meaningful discussions. The GNOC expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to welcome distinguished guests and emphasized the significance of this gathering for Oceania’s sports sector. “The XLV ONOC Annual General Assembly represents a crucial moment for Oceania’s Olympic movement, as leaders and stakeholders collaborate to shape the future of sports in the region,” stated GNOC.

Leading up to the assembly, a workshop focused on Olympic Solidarity Finance occurred at Hotel Nikko Guam, facilitating important dialogues about funding and support mechanisms for Olympic initiatives. This will be followed by a marketplace and one-on-one sessions where National Olympic Committees (NOCs) will engage directly with Olympic Solidarity (OS).

The assembly will also feature the Olympic Solidarity Oceania Forum and the OSFO annual meeting, as well as strategic planning workshops that are essential for outlining future directions for Olympic sports in the region. Notably, Guam’s Governor Lou Leon Guerrero is set to officially open the assembly, and outgoing International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach will also be in attendance from May 15 to May 17.

This event reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the Olympic movement in Oceania, highlighting collaboration among regional leaders to foster sports development. As recognized in recent ONOC discussions, the commitment to athlete welfare and development remains a top priority, showcasing the need for collective strategies that ensure long-term success for athletes in the Pacific region.

The assembly serves as a hopeful gathering, reaffirming the importance of unity and shared vision in advancing sports and creating opportunities for athletes throughout Oceania.
