Oceania Rugby has announced the launch of its inaugural Match Official High-Performance Camp in Nadi, representing a significant development for World Rugby.
This event will bring together match officials from across the Oceania region to improve their skills, exchange knowledge, and enhance the standards of officiating in rugby.
Oceania Rugby President Richard Sapias stated that the camp offers a unique opportunity for officials to participate in extensive training sessions, workshops, and discussions led by seasoned referees and educators from World Rugby.
Officials from Oceania and other regions will have the chance to hone their techniques, stay updated on the latest advancements in match officiating, and build camaraderie with their peers.
Sapias noted that this initiative allows for international exposure and exchanges with regions outside Oceania, such as the USA, Japan, and Canada. Additionally, this program is the first to be fully integrated with World Rugby’s talent identification pathways.
He emphasized that this landmark event not only promotes enhanced officiating standards but also opens up pathways for future referees.
