Oceania Rugby Kicks Off Historic Officiating Camp

Oceania Rugby has announced the initiation of its inaugural Match Official High-Performance Camp in Nadi, marking a notable development for World Rugby.

This event will bring together match officials from across the Oceania region to improve their skills, exchange knowledge, and enhance officiating standards within the sport.

According to Oceania Rugby President Richard Sapias, the camp offers a unique opportunity for officials to participate in in-depth training sessions, workshops, and discussions led by seasoned referees and educators affiliated with World Rugby.

Participants from both Oceania and other global regions will have the chance to refine their techniques, gain insights into the latest advancements in match officiating, and build a sense of camaraderie among their peers.

Sapias emphasized that this initiative provides crucial international exposure and interactions with areas beyond the region, including the USA, Japan, and Canada. Furthermore, this camp is the first to be fully aligned with World Rugby’s talent identification pathways.

He underscored that this significant event not only aims to bolster officiating standards but also paves the way for future referees by creating new opportunities.
