Oceania Rugby has initiated its first-ever Match Official High-Performance Camp in Nadi, in partnership with World Rugby and with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade through the PacificAus Sports program. This important initiative aims to improve officiating standards and enhance the skills of match officials throughout the Oceania region.
Richard Sapias, President of Oceania Rugby, remarked that launching the camp in Fiji reflects the organization’s commitment to developing match officials and fostering excellence in the sport. The camp will feature a series of intensive training sessions, workshops, and discussions led by experienced referees and educators affiliated with World Rugby.
Participants will have a valuable opportunity to refine their officiating skills, learn about the latest developments in rugby officiating, and strengthen relationships within the community. Frank Puletua, General Manager of Oceania Rugby, highlighted the camp’s significance in advancing the skills of local officials, stating that steps are being taken to enhance their competencies and uphold higher standards.
