Nursing Sensation: Varuru’s Award-Winning Journey Celebrated

Raluve Tubuna Tadu Varuru emerged as the standout graduate of the TISI Sangam College of Nursing and Health Care Education in Labasa, receiving five prestigious awards during her graduation ceremony. At just 25 years old and hailing from Nasinu Village, Navatu, Cakaudrove, Ms. Varuru was visibly emotional as she dedicated her accomplishments to her late grandmother and mentor, Latileta Lakai.

Reflecting on her journey, Ms. Varuru recalled how her grandmother had raised her and her twin sister, always hoping to witness their graduation. “My grandmother raised me since childhood and always wished to see us, the twin sisters, graduate,” she shared tearfully.

As the eldest of three siblings, Ms. Varuru was celebrated for her outstanding achievements, winning awards for Academic Excellence in Nursing Knowledge and Mental Health, Nursing Practice, Population Health, Personal Professional Development and Research, and Overall Academic Excellence. Her passion for nursing was ignited after she earned a Bachelor of Dietetics and Nutrition from Fiji National University in 2020, leading her to pursue further studies to fulfill her desire to care for the sick directly.

“I believe that if we have a dream and passion to do something productive, we should go for it,” Ms. Varuru expressed, highlighting her love for reading as a key to her success.

Her parents, Titilia Leba and Peter Earley, voiced their immense pride in her resilience and determination to excel. “We are proud and blessed to have a daughter like Varuru who never gives up,” they stated.

Ms. Varuru’s accomplishments are not only a reflection of her hard work but also honor her grandmother’s dream and serve as an inspiration for other aspiring nurses across Fiji.
