North’s Festival Emphasizes Sustainable Growth Amid Environmental Concerns

Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima has emphasized that recent developments in the North should not compromise environmental integrity. His remarks were made during the opening of the Festival of the Friendly North at Subrail Park in Labasa on Saturday.

He noted that the evolving business environment represents a significant achievement for the community. “As we celebrate these accomplishments, we must ensure we are acting responsibly,” he stated.

During the opening ceremony, contestants showcased outfits crafted from recycled materials such as sacks, plastics, and old greenhouses, in line with this year’s theme of “Sustainable Agriculture – Green Economy.”

Nine queens are in contention for the title of Miss Friendly North, while three men are competing for the title of king.
