North’s Festival Emphasizes Green Future Amid Celebrations

Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima emphasized the importance of safeguarding the environment amid recent advancements in the North. His remarks were made during the inauguration of the Festival of the Friendly North at Subrail Park in Labasa on Saturday.

Rainima described the transformation of the business landscape as a significant milestone for the local community, urging that progress must be achieved responsibly.

At the event’s opening night, contestants showcased outfits crafted from recycled materials such as sacks, plastics, and old greenhouses, aligning with the festival’s theme of “Sustainable Agriculture – Green Economy.”

The competition features nine queens contending for the title of Miss Friendly North, alongside three men competing for the title of king.
