Northpole FC from Labasa has triumphed at the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship, securing victory against Buiduna FC from Tailevu Naitasiri with a score of 6-3 in a thrilling final held at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.

The match kicked off with Northpole taking an early lead, thanks to a goal from Salimone Ravonokula in the 10th minute. Christopher Wasasala, a seasoned player, further extended the lead for Northpole with a penalty goal at the 30-minute mark. However, Buiduna FC fought back, with France Catarogo scoring in the 38th minute. The momentum continued as Sairusi Qiolevu equalized just before the halftime whistle, setting the stage for an exhilarating second half.

In the latter half, Northpole FC demonstrated their strength and determination, adding four goals to their tally through Melvin Mani, Wasasala, Eparama Moraica, and Malakai Arabaz. This strong performance solidified their lead and ultimately led to their championship victory.

As champions, Northpole FC took home a cash prize of $4,000 and were awarded the Fair Play trophy. Wasasala was outstanding, finishing the tournament as the top scorer with six goals, earning him the Golden Boot Award. Additionally, Ilisoni Lolaivalu was recognized with the Golden Ball Award for his exceptional play throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, Buiduna FC received $1,000 for their efforts, and their goalkeeper Kitione Baleiloa was awarded the Golden Glove as recognition of his impressive performance.

This victory brings hope to Northpole FC and their supporters, highlighting their determination and skill. Their success in the tournament not only showcases their talent but also inspires other teams in the league to aspire for greatness.
