Labasa’s Northpole FC triumphed in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship, securing an impressive 6-3 victory over Buiduna FC from Tailevu Naitasiri at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa. This thrilling final showcased the skill and determination of both teams, with Northpole FC emerging as the champions.

The match began with Salimone Ravonokula scoring the opening goal for Northpole in the 10th minute, followed by veteran player Christopher Wasasala who extended the lead with a penalty in the 30th minute. Buiduna FC fought back, with France Catarogo finding the net in the 38th minute, and Sairusi Qiolevu managing to equalize just before halftime, setting the stage for a captivating second half.

In the latter part of the game, Northpole FC demonstrated their dominance, scoring four more goals from Melvin Mani, Wasasala, Eparama Moraica, and Malakai Arabaz. As a result of their victory, Northpole FC walked away with a prize of $4000 and the Fair Play award, while Wasasala distinguished himself as the tournament’s top scorer with a total of six goals, earning him the coveted Golden Boot Award. Additionally, Ilisoni Lolaivalu received the Golden Ball Award in recognition of his exceptional performances throughout the tournament.

Buiduna FC, though not victorious, received $1000, and their goalkeeper Kitione Baleiloa was honored with the Golden Glove Award for his admirable efforts.
