Labasa’s Northpole FC emerged victorious in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship after defeating Buiduna FC from Tailevu Naitasiri with a score of 6-3 in an exhilarating final held today at the Fiji FA Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa.

The match kicked off with Salimone Ravonokula putting Northpole FC in front in the 10th minute. Following this, veteran forward Christopher Wasasala extended the lead by converting a penalty twenty minutes later. Buiduna FC fought back, with France Catarogo scoring in the 38th minute, and Sairusi Qiolevu equalizing just before halftime, setting the stage for an intense second half.

However, Northpole FC came back strong after the break, showcasing their dominance with four additional goals. Notable contributions came from Melvin Mani, Wasasala, Eparama Moraica, and Malakai Arabaz. Northpole FC walked away with a prize of $4,000 and the Fair Play award.

Christopher Wasasala was recognized as the tournament’s top scorer, netting six goals, which earned him the Golden Boot Award, while Ilisoni Lolaivalu received the Golden Ball Award for his exceptional performances throughout the tournament.

Buiduna FC secured $1,000, and their goalkeeper, Kitione Baleiloa, was awarded the Golden Glove Award for his impressive goalkeeping skills during the competition.
