The North-pole football club from Labasa has earned $4,000 after clinching victory in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). They triumphed over Buiduna with an impressive score of 6-3 during the match held at the Fiji Football Association grounds.
The first half proved to be competitive, with both teams ending the period at a 2-2 draw. However, North-pole surged ahead in the second half, with Melvin Mani scoring to put them in the lead in the 55th minute. Christopher Wasasala followed up with another goal just six minutes later, while Eparama Moraica and Mohammed Arbaz also contributed to the scoreline.
Despite the defeat, Buiduna made history by reaching their first NCCC final. They started their journey with a 2-1 win against Nakasi Police from Rewa, won narrowly 1-0 against Lautoka’s Rivals, and secured their final spot by holding Nadroga’s Downtown to a 1-1 draw in pool play. For their efforts, Buiduna received $1,000.
