Northland-Tailevu Shines in Youth League Victory!

The Northland-Tailevu under-16 team showcased a strong performance, securing a 2-0 win over Nasinu in the Digicel Fiji Girls Youth League competition held at the Pacific Theological College in Suva yesterday.

The match began positively for both sides, but it was Miliama Leba who found the net first, scoring a remarkable goal in the 20th minute of the second half that flew over the goalkeeper.

Northland-Tailevu continued their momentum and added another goal to finalize the match with a 2-0 victory.

Shanil Chand, president of the Tailevu team, praised his players for their execution following his pre-match instructions. He acknowledged the challenges posed by Nasinu but commended his team’s resilience.

“I instructed my girls on what should be done in the match, emphasized focus, and they executed it well to secure the win,” Chand stated. “This is a great opportunity for these girls to develop towards potentially joining the national team. There’s abundant talent and a strong work ethic on display.”

Chand also highlighted the role of Fiji Football in organizing the event, which offers young girls the chance to play and connect with other teams during their school holidays. He stressed the significance of ongoing improvement and expressed pride in his team’s progress.
