Fiji National Futsal head coach Jose Gerardo has expressed his admiration for the dedication shown by Northern Division coaches during a recent three-day Futsal Coaching Course at the Fiji FA Academy in Labasa. The event saw participation from 15 coaches hailing from Dreketi, Bua, Udu, Savusavu, and Labasa. Notably, the inclusion of a female school teacher from Udu Point exemplified the sport’s expanding influence through educational institutions.
Gerardo conveyed his satisfaction with the level of enthusiasm from the Northern coaches, stating, “I’m very happy with the response from the North. The coaches were eager to learn and showed great interest in developing futsal in their respective districts.” He highlighted that this course has been instrumental in enhancing grassroots futsal in the Northern region.
Looking ahead, Gerardo confirmed that a similar coaching course is scheduled for the Western Zone this week as part of Fiji FA’s comprehensive nationwide development initiative. His goal is to ensure that coaches across all regions attain a uniform level of training and support, fostering growth and improvement of futsal throughout Fiji.
This commitment to widespread coaching development not only strengthens the local futsal community but also promises a brighter future for the sport as it gains traction in schools and among various demographics.
