Law enforcement operations in the Northern Division have successfully resulted in multiple arrests connected to the unlawful possession of illicit drugs. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, these surge operations have been bolstered by additional specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, the Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and the Police Dog Unit.
Driu emphasized that a key priority remains disrupting the illegal drug supply chain through coordinated farm raids, comprehensive mop-up exercises, and focused targeting of drug distributors. He noted that the collaboration and information sharing within the community have played a crucial role in the success of these raids.
During the operations conducted recently, five men, aged between 20 to 30 years, were apprehended. Authorities also confiscated items believed to be stolen. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing as police continue their efforts to combat drug-related crime in the area.
This proactive approach by law enforcement not only aims to reduce the drug trade but also seeks to foster community engagement in the fight against drugs, highlighting a collective commitment to making neighborhoods safer.
Overall, this surge operation serves as a positive step towards enhancing public safety and reducing criminal activity in the Northern Division. The commitment of the police and community can indeed create a lasting impact in the ongoing battle against illegal drugs.
