In the Northern Division, recent surge operations have resulted in multiple arrests related to unlawful drug possession. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu announced that these operations are bolstered by the support of specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and the Police Dog Unit.

ACP Driu emphasized that one of the main objectives is to disrupt the drug supply chain, which is being addressed through various strategies such as conducting farm raids, mop-up exercises, and targeting distributors. The rising community support in the fight against drugs has proven vital, as the sharing of information has played a key role in the effectiveness of these raids.

During the recent operations, five men aged between 20 and 30 were arrested, and items believed to be stolen were also confiscated. Investigations are ongoing.

This proactive approach by the police not only aims to combat drug-related issues but also fosters community engagement. As more people join the effort to tackle illicit drug activities, there is hope for a safer environment for all. This initiative showcases the potential for collaborative action between law enforcement and the community in creating lasting change.
