Recent surge operations in the Northern Division have led to the arrest of several individuals suspected of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that these divisional surge operations are being bolstered by additional support from specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and the Police Dog Unit.
Disrupting the drug supply chain continues to be a key focus, with authorities conducting farm raids and targeted actions against distributors. ACP Driu highlighted the importance of community cooperation in these efforts, noting that shared information has played a crucial role in the success of these operations in the Northern Division.
During the latest surge, five men aged between 20 and 30 were apprehended. In addition to the drug-related arrests, items suspected to be stolen were also recovered.
Investigations are ongoing, as law enforcement continues to work diligently to combat drug-related crime in the region.
This proactive approach by the police not only addresses illicit drug possession but also fosters community involvement, illustrating a collective effort toward a safer environment. With ongoing investigations and operations, there is a hopeful outlook for further progress in the fight against drugs in the Northern Division.
