Law enforcement operations in the Northern Division have resulted in multiple arrests linked to the unlawful possession of illegal drugs. This surge effort was underscored by Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, who emphasized that these operations are bolstered by additional resources from specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and Police Dog Unit.

ACP Driu stated that the primary focus of these efforts is to disrupt the drug supply chain through targeted actions such as farm raids and the identification of key distributors. He highlighted the importance of community involvement, stating that the collaboration and sharing of information from the public have significantly contributed to the successful execution of these raids in the Northern Division.

Recently, during the surge operations, five men aged between 20 and 30 were arrested, and various items believed to have been stolen were also seized. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing.

This proactive approach towards combating drug-related crimes reflects a commitment to ensuring community safety and fostering a drug-free environment. With continued collaboration between law enforcement and the public, there is hope for a significant reduction in drug abuse issues in the region.
