Surge operations in the Northern Division have resulted in multiple arrests for suspected illegal possession of drugs. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu stated that these divisional surge efforts are bolstered by additional personnel from specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and Police Dog Unit.
The disruption of drug supply chains remains a key focus, with authorities conducting farm raids, clean-up exercises, and targeting known distributors. ACP Driu highlighted the importance of community collaboration, noting that the sharing of information has played a vital role in the successful execution of these operations in the Northern Division.
In the most recent surge, five men aged between 20 and 30 were apprehended. Alongside drug-related arrests, items believed to be stolen were also confiscated. Investigations are currently ongoing.
