Surge operations in the Northern Division have resulted in multiple arrests related to the unlawful possession of illegal drugs. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that these efforts are bolstered by additional personnel from specialized units, including the Police Mobile Force, Fiji Detector Dog Unit, and Police Dog Unit.

ACP Driu emphasized the importance of disrupting the supply chain of illicit drugs, highlighting ongoing initiatives like farm raids, mop-up exercises, and targeting distributors. He noted the critical role of community support and information sharing, which have significantly contributed to the success of these operations.

During the latest surge operations, five men, aged between 20 and 30, were taken into custody. Authorities also recovered items suspected to be stolen. Investigations into these matters are ongoing.

This proactive approach signifies a united front against drug-related issues, showcasing the commitment of law enforcement and the community in creating a safer environment. As more individuals join the fight against drugs, there is hope for a significant reduction in drug-related crimes in the region.
