Labasa’s Northpole football club celebrated a victorious return, earning $4,000 after triumphing in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). They faced off against Buiduna and won the match with a score of 6-3 at the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) grounds yesterday.
The match was fiercely contested, with both teams tied at 2-2 at halftime. However, Northpole took control in the second half; Melvin Mani scored to give them the lead in the 55th minute, followed by Christopher Wasasala, who netted his second goal just six minutes later. Additionally, Eparama Moraica and Mohammed Arbaz contributed to the scoreboard with two more goals.
Despite their defeat, Buiduna made significant strides by reaching their first-ever NCCC final. Their journey included a 2-1 victory over Nakasi Police, a narrow 1-0 win against Rivals, and a last pool play match that ended in a 1-1 draw against Downtown, ensuring their place in the final. For their efforts, they earned $1,000.
