Labasa’s North-pole Football Club has returned home $4,000 richer after clinching victory in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). The team triumphed over Buiduna with a score of 6-3 at the Fiji Football Association grounds yesterday.

The match was intensely competitive, with the teams ending the first half tied at 2-2. In the second half, Melvin Mani put North-pole ahead in the 55th minute, followed by Christopher Wasasala scoring his second goal just six minutes later. Eparama Moraica and Mohammed Arbaz also contributed to the scoreline, sealing their team’s impressive win.

Despite the defeat, Buiduna club made history by reaching their first NCCC final. Their journey to the final included a 2-1 victory against Nakasi Police, a narrow 1-0 win over Lautoka’s Rivals, and a 1-1 draw against Nadroga’s Downtown, which secured their place in the championship match. They left the tournament with $1,000 in prize money.
