The Labasa football club, known as North-pole, returned home with a prize of $4,000 after their impressive victory in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). They faced off against Buiduna, winning the match 6-3 at the Fiji Football Association grounds yesterday.
The first half of the game proved to be a competitive showdown, with both teams locked at 2-2 at halftime. However, North-pole took control in the second half, with Melvin Mani scoring to give them a lead in the 55th minute. Christopher Wasasala followed suit, netting his second goal just six minutes later. The other two goals for North-pole came from Eparama Moraica and Mohammed Arbaz.
Despite the defeat, Buiduna club made history by reaching their first NCCC final, showcasing their determination and skill throughout the tournament. They began their journey with a 2-1 win over Rewa’s Nakasi Police, followed by a narrow 1-0 victory against Lautoka’s Rivals, and a draw against Nadroga’s Downtown, which secured their place in the final. Buiduna leaves the championship with a commendable prize of $1,000.
