The Labasa football club, known as North-pole, has returned home with an impressive prize of $4,000 after clinching victory in the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC). They triumphed over Buiduna with a scoreline of 6-3 during the exciting match held at the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) grounds.

The first half was fiercely contested, resulting in a 2-2 stalemate at halftime. However, the tide turned in the second half when Melvin Mani scored to give North-pole the lead in the 55th minute. Christopher Wasasala followed up with his second goal of the match just six minutes later, enhancing North-pole’s advantage. Eparama Moraica and Mohammed Arbaz also contributed with two additional goals.

Despite the defeat, Buiduna made commendable strides in the tournament by reaching their first-ever NCCC final. They began their journey with a 2-1 victory over Nakasi Police, followed by a narrow 1-0 win against Lautoka’s Rivals. They secured their final spot after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Nadroga’s Downtown, earning a reward of $1,000 for their efforts.

Overall, the championship showcased thrilling football and the emergence of new talents, offering fans hope for a bright future in Fijian football. Both teams demonstrated skill and determination, making this tournament memorable for everyone involved.
