Labasa’s North-Pole football club celebrated a significant victory as they clinched the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC), returning home with $4,000 in prize money. The match, held at the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) grounds, saw North-Pole triumph over Buiduna with a score of 6-3.
The game was closely contested, particularly in the first half where both teams entered the break tied at 2-2. However, the second half saw North-Pole take control, with Melvin Mani scoring the go-ahead goal in the 55th minute. Christopher Wasasala followed suit with his second goal just six minutes later. Eparama Moraica and Mo-hammed Arbaz added to the scoreline, solidifying North-Pole’s lead.
Despite the defeat, Buiduna made history by reaching their first NCCC final. Their impressive journey to the final included a 2-1 win against Rewa’s Nakasi Police, a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Lautoka’s Rivals, and a draw against Nadroga’s Downtown, which helped them secure their place in the final. As runners-up, Buiduna walked away with $1,000.
