“Nitin Gandhi Joins Fiji Revenue Authority: What’s Next?”

Nitin Gandhi’s successful track record at the securities exchange suggests promising results as he joins the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCS). Under his chairmanship at the exchange, notable achievements include the early and full trading status for SUN Insurance.

Gandhi, along with former FRCS CEO Jitoko Tikolevu, has been appointed to the FRCS board for a three-year term. Joining them are Nancy Tikoisuva and Neelesh Gounder, who were appointed last year.

The board members bring significant individual expertise. Tikoisuva is a legal practitioner with Toganivalu Legal, and Gounder is a lecturer in economics and Deputy Head of School (Research) at the University of the South Pacific.

Gandhi, a chartered accountant and former managing partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), is a fellow of the Australia and New Zealand Chartered Accountants. He is also a former president of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Fiji Red Cross Society, as well as a member of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) Audit and Risk Commission in Geneva. With over 38 years of professional services experience in assurance, taxation, and advisory across various industries, Gandhi is well-prepared for his new role.

Aware of the challenges facing FRCS in its reforms and administrative systems, Gandhi emphasized the importance of embracing globalization and digitalization to serve FRCS’s customer base effectively. He stated that modernizing tax compliance and developing systems are crucial for Fiji’s economic development.

FRCS CEO Udit Singh believes that the diverse expertise of the new board members will help FRCS evolve into a world-class service provider. Tikolevu also brings a wealth of experience, having served as Fiji’s High Commissioner to the UK from 2016 to 2023 and as FRCS CEO from 2007 to 2015. He was also deputy board chairman of the Fiji Development Bank and Investment Fiji until December 2015.
