Eswa Nadan, affectionately known as “Ninja,” was recently honored by the Fiji Football Association for his outstanding contributions to the sport. At 58 years old, Nadan, who resides in Sydney, Australia, is a celebrated figure in Fijian football, having enjoyed a storied career as a striker for both Nadi and the national team during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Nadan’s passion for football began in primary school, where he already exhibited talent by scoring the winning goal in a crucial competition. Over the years, he continued to excel, eventually compelling him to commit more seriously to the sport. His dedication bore fruit when he debuted with Nadi in 1987, quickly making a name for himself by scoring significant goals, including a memorable winning strike against Lautoka that ended their impressive unbeaten streak.

After hanging up his boots due to injuries in 1994, Nadan transitioned to coaching, where he made a positive impact on youth teams, leading them to victory in various tournaments. He later migrated to Australia in 2001 and founded the Nadi Veterans Club, participating in competitions across Australia and New Zealand.

Most recently, Nadan has been appointed as the Head Coach for the Australia Fiji Football Incorporated (AuFFI) All Stars, contributing to football development in Australia for over two decades. He aspires to unite the Fijian community abroad through football, believing it can lead to a stronger connection with their roots back in Fiji.
