Nineteen Injured in Dramatic Bus Collision Outside Lautoka

Nineteen individuals were taken to Lautoka Hospital following a traffic accident involving a bus and a twin cab vehicle in Vitogo, near Lautoka, on Wednesday afternoon. According to police reports, the twin cab unexpectedly pulled out from Vitogo Road around 2:45 PM, colliding with a bus that was en route from Lautoka to Ba.

The bus was bound for Ellington Wharf in Rakiraki to catch the 6 PM Goundar Shipping vessel to Natovi and Vanua Levu. Sherin Nisha, a passenger on the bus, conveyed her concern regarding the incident, describing it as an unfortunate error on the part of the twin cab driver. “He should have waited a few seconds for the bus to pass,” Nisha remarked, noting the suddenness of the cab’s entry onto the road.

Witnesses reported that the collision’s force was substantial enough to flip the bus onto its driver’s side. The bus driver, along with the eighteen passengers from the bus, were taken to the hospital for medical attention.

This incident underscores the importance of cautious driving and being mindful of oncoming traffic, especially in high-traffic areas. As the investigation continues, it is vital for drivers to adhere to traffic rules and ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road.
