A bouncer connected to a recent brawl in Suva has been taken into police custody as authorities work to investigate the incident further. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed that law enforcement is in the process of apprehending others related to the altercation and is actively seeking additional suspects.

Driu has appealed to the public to refrain from taking matters into their own hands and to allow the police to conduct their investigation. He emphasized the importance of calmness, especially on social media platforms where tensions may run high. “All those making threats on social media need to stay calm. Emotions are still high at the moment, and we are calling on parties involved to try and remain calm. Taking matters into your own hands won’t resolve anything; it will only make things worse,” he stated.

Police officers from the Totogo Police Station have been dispatched to Namatakula Village to gather statements from individuals involved as well as witnesses. Driu has urged cooperation from the parties involved, asking them to provide evidence and statements to aid in the investigation process. He noted that the police will be monitoring social media closely to prevent escalation of the incident.

As the New Year unfolds, ACP Driu reassured the public that the police will be vigilant in ensuring safety, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining peace in the community.

This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of community cooperation and trust in law enforcement, especially during tense moments. Maintaining a calm approach can lead to a more constructive resolution.
