In the early hours of yesterday, a bouncer involved in a nightclub altercation in Suva has been apprehended by the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed that authorities are actively working to identify and detain others linked to the incident.

Driu cautioned the public against taking matters into their own hands and emphasized the importance of letting the police do their job. “All those making threats on social media need to stay calm. Emotions are still high, and we request those involved to remain composed. Taking matters into your own hands won’t resolve anything; it will only exacerbate the situation,” he stated.

A team from Totogo Police Station has been dispatched to Namatakula Village, where they are gathering statements from participants and witnesses. Driu also urged those involved to cooperate with the investigation and expressed the need for patience as police work through the facts.

The police are monitoring social media closely to prevent any escalation of tensions and ensure community safety. Driu reassured the public that, as the New Year approaches, police presence will be heightened to maintain order and protect everyone’s wellbeing.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community cooperation and the need for calm in the face of conflict. With the police actively involved, there is hope for a peaceful resolution and a safer environment for all residents.
