A bouncer linked to a recent brawl in Suva has been taken into custody by the police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu confirmed that authorities are already in the process of identifying and apprehending others involved in the incident.
He cautioned the public against taking justice into their own hands and emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement to carry out their duties effectively. “All those making threats on social media need to stay calm. Emotions are still high at the moment, and we are calling on parties involved to try and remain calm. Taking matters into your own hands won’t resolve anything; it will only make things worse,” stated ACP Driu.
In response to the brawl, a team from Totogo Police Station has been actively gathering statements from those involved and witnesses in Namatakula Village. Driu encouraged cooperation from all parties to facilitate the investigation and urged patience as the police work through the information available.
Additionally, the police are closely monitoring social media to prevent further escalation of tensions. With the New Year celebrations approaching, ACPO Driu reassured the public of ongoing police presence aimed at ensuring everyone’s safety during this festive time.
This situation highlights the importance of community cooperation with law enforcement, especially in emotionally charged incidents. By allowing authorities to handle investigations, citizens can contribute to a more peaceful resolution and maintain safety within the community as we usher in a new year.
