The Random Breath Tests initiative continued its efforts on the third night along the critical Nadi to Namaka corridor last night, as part of ongoing measures to ensure road safety. According to police reports, a total of 351 drivers were subjected to testing, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals for driving under the influence, including a police officer from Nadi.
Additionally, in the Suva area, 450 drivers were tested, leading to one arrest for drunk driving. Among the tested drivers, three were released as they registered results below the legal limit.
The enforcement of Random Breath Tests is a proactive step aimed at reducing incidents of drunk driving, promoting safer roads, and fostering responsible driving behavior in the community.
