Niece’s Nightmare: Uncle Charged in Disturbing Rape Case

A 49-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the alleged rape of his 13-year-old niece. The incident reportedly took place on September 2 at the man’s home, where he is accused of forcibly taking the victim after she had arrived to return an item belonging to his daughter. The victim’s mother subsequently reported the incident to Vunidawa Police Station. The man faces two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. The case will be mentioned again on September 19 at the Suva High Court.
