The Fiji Football Association has appointed Nicola Demaine as the new Head Coach of the Fiji women’s national football team, known as the Fiji Kulas. This decision aligns with the association’s strategic goal of enhancing women’s football and ensuring the long-term development of their national program.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel expressed that Demaine brings a wealth of international experience in women’s football, particularly within the Oceania region, and has shown a strong ability in team development and high-performance settings. Patel emphasized that her background would make her an essential asset to the national setup, citing her extensive experience working with various national teams and football development initiatives.

Demaine, an English-born coach, has a notable track record, having previously led Papua New Guinea to win the OFC Women’s Nations Cup in 2022, marking a significant milestone for the country in women’s football. Her coaching credentials also include serving as head coach of the Samoa women’s national team and working as an OFC Women’s Football Development Officer, fostering the sport’s growth across the region. Most recently, she was the head coach for the Bhutan women’s national team.

Upon her appointment, Demaine expressed her honor in taking on the role and her eagerness to collaborate with players, coaching staff, and administrators to nurture the women’s program and build a strong competitive team. She aims to create a positive training atmosphere while focusing on player development.

Demaine’s vision includes recognizing the potential within women’s football in Fiji and her commitment to supporting the ongoing growth of the game. As she takes on her new role, the Fiji Kulas are expected to prepare for upcoming Oceania competitions and future World Cup qualifying campaigns, looking forward to a promising time ahead under her guidance.
