Former Flying Fijians first five-eighth Nicky Little recently visited the Fijian Drua’s headquarters in Legalega, Nadi, where he was warmly welcomed by the current squad and officials. Reflecting on the advanced facilities, Little expressed a wish that such resources had been available during his own playing days. He also had a meaningful reunion with his former teammates, Kele Leawere and Ifereimi Rawaqa, with whom he made history at the 2007 Rugby World Cup by defeating Wales 38-34.

“This is amazing. I wish we had this when I was younger,” Little commented on the Drua’s facilities, highlighting the importance of unity within the team. He noted how the camaraderie during his time in the Army barracks in the 1970s, when resources were scarce, fostered strong bonds among players. “But here you have the unity of having lots. It’s really good,” he added.

Known for his kicking prowess, Little shared valuable advice with the Drua fly-halves, emphasizing the importance of getting the ball from forwards to faster backs and the strategic use of kicking during play. He underscored the necessity for strong local support for the team and praised local coaches assisting the Drua.

Little’s heartfelt message ahead of the 2025 season was one of collective pride and encouragement: “All our own guys are just proud to be the men who wear the blue.” He believes in the importance of giving back to the rugby community and encouraging former players to share their experiences and lessons learned throughout their careers.

The Drua’s commitment to fostering team spirit is evident in their community-engaged pre-season training efforts, which include recent activities in Kadavu. These efforts not only enhance player bonds but also demonstrate a dedication to local talent and community involvement. As the Drua prepares for the upcoming Super Rugby season, their focus on unity and community connection offers a hopeful outlook for future success.

Through these initiatives, the Fijian Drua continues to symbolize the spirit of rugby in Fiji, reinforcing connections between sports and community while inspiring both current and future generations of athletes.
