Former Flying Fijians first five-eighth Nicky Little recently visited the Fijian Drua’s headquarters in Legalega, Nadi, where he was warmly welcomed by the current squad and officials. During his visit, Little expressed admiration for the modern facilities available to the Drua and wished similar resources had existed during his playing days. He noted the importance of unity within the team and reflected on how the camaraderie of his era in the Army barracks in the 1970s fostered strong bonds among players, stating, “But here you have the unity of having lots. It’s really good.”

Little also reunited with former teammates Kele Leawere and Ifereimi Rawaqa, who were part of the historic 2007 Rugby World Cup team that recorded a memorable victory over Wales. Sharing his insights on rugby strategies, he emphasized effective communication on the field, particularly for fly-halves, advising them to move the ball from the forwards to the faster backs and the strategic use of kicking.

His heartfelt message for the Drua team as they gear up for the 2025 season was one of collective pride: “All our own guys are just proud to be the men who wear the blue.” He encouraged the current athletes to give back to the rugby community, reinforcing the significance of nurturing connections and sharing experiences gained throughout their careers.

Little’s visit highlights the Drua’s commitment to fostering collective spirit, as they engage in community-oriented pre-season training, demonstrated by their recent activities in places like Kadavu. This approach not only enhances player bonds but also signifies the Drua’s dedication to local talent and their role within the community.

As the Drua prepares for the upcoming Super Rugby season, the unity and community engagement showcased in their initiatives offers a positive outlook for their future success. In a sport that connects generations, the emphasis on teamwork, local support, and giving back remains a central theme, inspiring hope for continued growth in Fijian rugby.
