Ni Vanuatu boxers Roy Ser and Wasing Warawara are scheduled to arrive in the country next Wednesday.
South Pacific Boxing Promotions promoter Fred Chand confirmed that the boxers will catch a connecting flight to Labasa for next Saturday’s promotion on August 10.
“The boxers wanted to get to Labasa quickly so they could acclimatize to the weather conditions,” Chand explained.
In the main bout, Ser will face Fiji’s super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific title holder Winston Hill. The 10-round fight promises to be a thrilling encounter as both fighters have extensive amateur boxing experience before turning professional.
Hill earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, while Ser won a gold medal at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila and also trained in China. Ser has previously knocked out opponents Rakuro Dauvavana in the second round and Saimoni Ratu.
Warawara is set to compete in the supporting bout against up-and-comer Frederick Chand from Nadi’s Seaside Boxing Club. The official weigh-in for the promotion is scheduled for next Friday in Labasa.
