The National Federation Party (NFP) has officially announced a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from individuals looking to become candidates for the upcoming General Elections. This initiative aims to involve Fijians aged 18 and older who are dedicated to public service and aspire to contribute to the nation’s collective wellbeing.

In its announcement, NFP emphasizes its prestigious status as the oldest political party in Fiji and the South Pacific, founded in 1963. The party’s core principles—equality, dignity, and justice for all—have guided its efforts throughout its history.

Highlighting its achievements while in the Coalition Government, NFP referred to impactful measures in the 2025–2026 National Budget. Notably, the reduction of VAT and the exemption of VAT on essential prescription medicines were pointed out as significant steps toward alleviating the financial burden on families amidst rising cost-of-living concerns.

The party has also championed enhanced support for vulnerable groups, including the elderly, low-income families, individuals with disabilities, and those enduring economic difficulties. Furthermore, NFP has worked to restore trade union freedoms, foster media independence, and promote accountable governance.

NFP asserts that these initiatives were not just theoretical but reflect actionable leadership that translates to fairness, stability, and improved daily life for the citizens of Fiji.

The party is specifically looking for candidates deeply connected to their communities, possessing broad public support, and dedicated to principles of transparency, accountability, social justice, and economic equity. Interested individuals must provide a statement of interest detailing their motivations and community backing, accompanied by a curriculum vitae and, if feasible, reference letters.

The submission deadline for applications is set for Monday, February 16, 2026. The NFP has notably encouraged participation from women, youth, and individuals with disabilities to ensure a diverse representation in its candidate lineup. This initiative reflects the party’s commitment to inclusivity and progressive leadership as it approaches the electoral process.
