National Federation Party (NFP) leader Biman Prasad has expressed profound sadness over the death of Bhagwan Ji Bhindi, who was his former English teacher at Labasa College.

Prof. Prasad reflected on the impactful role Mr. Bhindi played during his time at the school, which was under the principalship of Amraiya Naidu. He described Mr. Bhindi as a dedicated and disciplined educator, emphasizing how he took his responsibilities seriously and instilled a strong work ethic in his students. “He expected his students to work hard, and he gave his time to ensure that they understood their lessons,” Prof. Prasad remarked.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Bhindi shaped the lives of many students who passed through his classroom, helping them build a strong foundation for their futures. Prof. Prasad highlighted that Labasa College, supported by such devoted teachers, was instrumental in shaping generations of students from Vanua Levu. Many of these former students have gone on to serve in crucial roles in Fiji and make contributions in various fields internationally.

Prof. Prasad noted Mr. Bhindi’s enduring legacy as he later served as the long-time principal of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, continuing his commitment to education and youth development. “I am sure that many former students of Labasa College, both in Fiji and abroad, will join me in mourning his passing and in acknowledging his contribution to their lives,” he concluded.

The loss of Mr. Bhindi is felt deeply across the community, with many recognizing his invaluable contributions to education and the lasting impact he had on countless students. His legacy is a testament to the importance of dedicated educators in shaping not just individual lives, but the broader society.
