The National Federation Party (NFP) proudly affirms its role within the Coalition Government led by Sitiveni Rabuka, as emphasized by Defence Minister and NFP vice-president Pio Tikoduadua during the party’s annual general meeting in Rakiraki. Tikoduadua outlined the composition of the coalition, which includes the People’s Alliance Party as the senior partner and the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA), along with 11 independent members who were formerly part of the FijiFirst party.

Highlighting their two-and-a-half-year journey, Tikoduadua spoke about the transition from a challenging political landscape to a more stable environment with a larger majority. This stability allows the coalition to navigate parliamentary operations more seamlessly and advance their legislative agenda without constantly worrying about their numerical strength during votes.

The sentiment within the NFP aligns with previously expressed commitments from party leader Professor Biman Prasad, who remarked on the complexity of coalition politics but emphasized the importance of trust and respect among partners. He acknowledged the value of open dialogue and the mutual admiration that, despite occasional public disagreements, fosters effective collaboration.

As the coalition government faces various national challenges, the unity among its partners—including the recent appointment of new ministers—underscores their collective intention to address pressing issues effectively. Prime Minister Rabuka’s confidence in maintaining robust support from both the NFP and SODELPA further strengthens their resolve.

The commitment to healing and restoring democracy in Fiji is evident in the NFP’s ongoing efforts to engage with citizens, highlighting a hopeful narrative for the nation’s future. With leaders dedicated to democracy, fair governance, and collaboration, Fiji stands on a path toward recovery and resilience. The coalition’s proactive approach presents a positive outlook as they continue to address the concerns and aspirations of the Fijian people.
