The National Development Plan (NDP) is set for its launch next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presiding over the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Biman Prasad indicated that this launch marks the beginning of a comprehensive plan aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.

Prasad emphasized the country’s potential to achieve prosperity within the next 25 to 30 years, but warned that this vision cannot be realized without moving away from the status quo. He underscored the importance of political stability, consistent policies, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable governance approach.

The Ministry of Finance is leading the development of the NDP, which is anticipated to build upon the results of the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee’s report, and the outcomes from the Education Summit. Prasad expressed confidence that the Government will create a legacy of political culture and leadership that ensures peaceful and accountable governmental transitions in the future.
