A donation of $5,000 was presented by the Fiji-New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC) to kickstart the Blue Light Program in Fiji. This handover took place during a networking event organized by the FNZBC in Suva last week.
New Zealand Police Pacific Superintendent Glyn Rowland highlighted that Blue Light is a non-profit organization that collaborates with the New Zealand Police to provide services in areas less accessible to law enforcement. He praised their work, stating, “They work with the youths, they work in our communities, they do fantastic work that’s really making a difference in the community.” Rowland expressed his support for Blue Light’s expansion into Fiji, stating he is thrilled about their initiatives.
In Fiji, Blue Light collaborates with the Fiji Police Force to enhance community services. Blue Light CEO Brendon Crompton, who attended the event to accept the donation, acknowledged the Fiji Police’s commitment to community work but noted that financial constraints hinder their ability to implement programs. He remarked, “You really got a committed police force here in Fiji, they’ve got the people, they just need some financial support to run programs in schools and the community.”
Crompton expressed his eagerness to roll out specific planned programs with the Fiji Police Force using the funds received.
