New Zealand companies participating in the 2024 Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association’s HOTEC Trade Show later this week have been chosen for their dedication to delivering high-quality products and services in collaboration with Fijian providers.

The participating companies—Green Meadows Beef, Pals, Mercer Mushrooms, the NZ Avocado collective, and Magic Memories—will present their products at the New Zealand “Made with Care” pavilion.

At a reception in Suva on Tuesday evening, New Zealand Trade Commissioner to the Pacific, David Dewar, emphasized the firms’ commitment to partnering with Fiji’s tourism industry for mutual success.

“Fiji’s tourism sector is absolutely world-class,” Mr. Dewar stated, highlighting the remarkable recovery of the sector from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has positioned Fiji as a preferred destination for travelers from Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

He noted that tourists are attracted to Fiji primarily for its welcoming people.

“The success is ultimately a testament to everyone in this country responsible for the world-famous ‘Bula’ welcome and ‘loloma’ throughout visitors’ stays,” he said.

Mr. Dewar also mentioned that premium travelers are increasingly seeking high-quality products to complement their experiences.

“We want to ensure we are bringing the best of New Zealand to partner with Fiji to provide that,” he said, adding that reliability of supply is crucial as the hotel industry continues to expand.

The “Made With Care” campaign is founded on three core values: ‘Kaitiakitanga’—caring for people, place, and planet for future generations; ‘Manaakitanga’—showing kindness, generosity, and respect toward others; and ‘Ingenuity’—challenging traditional practices with innovative solutions.

“We take pride in showcasing four remarkable New Zealand companies at HOTEC this week that embody these values,” he concluded.

New Zealand has actively supported the event, with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) serving as the gold sponsor for the two-day exhibition.
