Charlotte Darlow, the New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji, has concluded her four-year diplomatic tenure in the island nation. Ms. Darlow, who began her role in October 2021, has expressed that serving in Fiji has been one of the greatest privileges of her professional career.
During a recent address to the Fiji New Zealand Business Council, Ms. Darlow reflected on her time in office, stating that as she approaches the end of her term, she looks forward to the transition. She introduced her successor, Greg Andrews, who will take on the role in January next year, noting his extensive experience in trade and economic matters. “Greg Andrews will be an exceptional advocate for the Fiji-New Zealand relationship,” she remarked, emphasizing the positive impact he is expected to have in this position.
Ms. Darlow plans to continue observing the evolving relationship between Fiji and New Zealand from her home in Aro Valley, Wellington, expressing her best wishes for the future of the partnership. Her work has encompassed various aspects of multilateral diplomacy, including environmental issues, international security, and human rights, and she has contributed to New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade across multiple divisions.
As Ms. Darlow embarks on her next chapter, the Fiji-New Zealand relationship appears well-positioned for ongoing development under new leadership. The collaborative efforts between the two nations continue to hold promise for future growth and cooperation.
